Sherry Amin, Founder & Director

“I was exposed to CSR work in my school days and always loved the feel of camaraderie. Hosting animal adoption drives and teaching young kids in a village in Philippines, these were my fondest memories as a student and the little experiences I shared with my friends. SKRLWN is my own little effort in recreating those moments in my adult-life.”

Syarlene Rahim, Founder & Director

Syarlene is a medical student. She started her career in humanitarian work prior to university at Teddy Mobile Clinic, a free street clinic that serves B40 communities, refugees, and the homeless on the streets of KL. Apart from her community work she also tutors junior medical students at her university and is the VP of the IMU Surgical Society. She’s held positions as the Director General of IMU Model UN as well as Program Coordinator for the Children’s Home of Hope, a child cancer home based in KL. All of her experience in leadership roles as well as community service has in her own words, “taught me to become a better, kinder, more empathetic doctor to protect, serve and uplift those without a voice.”

Armin Ilyas, Head of Events

“Volunteering was somewhat of a familial tradition. It’s become part of my DNA & I’ve felt no greater sense of purpose.”

From the age of 6, Armin was coerced into volunteering by his cousins, who already had a profound interest in climate action. In 2003, he began his journey by joining a Malaysian environmental NGO and attended global youth conferences throughout Southeast Asia under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) sharing differing ideas and perspectives on how to make a positive impact on the environment. Curious, worldly, sensitive, observant and thought provoking. On the flip side, Armin who is now 27, is also a fellow creative cat who holds various positions in developing creative advertising solutions for clients and brands at home and abroad.
